Who we are
Canberra E-Scooter Tours (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides guided e-scooter tours around Lake Burley Griffin and nearby attractions in Canberra, ACT. Our website is canberraescootertours.com.au and we can be reached at contact@canberraescootertours.com.au or (+61) 410 289 780. Our services and bookings are shown throughout the site (e.g., Signature Loop, Short Loop, Medium Loop) and may be booked online.

We manage personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and your rights.
The information we collect
1) Information you give us

-
Bookings & enquiries: name, email, phone, preferred tour, date/time, group size, notes or special requests (via our Wix site and Wix Bookings). We don’t receive or store your full card details; payments are handled by our payment service provider(s) through Wix. Canberra E-Scooter Tours+1
-
Waiver & signatures: your name and signature and, if applicable, the names of minors you are parent/guardian for; your acknowledgement of fitness/health declarations; optional media-release consent; and the date you signed (collected via Jotform Sign). form.jotform.com
-
Communications & marketing: emails, phone calls, social DMs, reviews, survey responses, and your marketing preferences (opt-in/opt-out).
-
Images from tours: photos/videos taken during tours only where you have consented (e.g., by ticking the optional media-release box on the waiver). You can withdraw consent at any time—see “Your rights”.
2) Information we collect automatically

-
Technical/usage data when you visit our site (IP address, device, browser, pages viewed, actions on the booking pages).
-
Cookies set by us or our service providers to keep the site secure and running (essential cookies) and to improve the experience or measure performance (non-essential cookies). We use Wix’s cookie tools and may enable a cookie banner so you can control non-essential cookies.
Why we collect and use your information
We collect, use, and disclose personal information to:
-
provide and manage bookings, deliver tours, and communicate with you;
-
verify consent and manage risk, safety and compliance (e.g., waivers, age/guardian confirmations);
-
process payments and issue invoices/receipts;
-
respond to enquiries, complaints and refund requests;
-
operate, secure and improve our website and services (including analytics); and
-
comply with laws, resolve disputes, and exercise or defend legal claims under ACT law.
For visitors from the EU/UK, our additional legal bases include consent (e.g., media release, health declarations), contract (to run your booking), legitimate interests (site security, service improvement), and legal obligation (recordkeeping).
Children & minors
Our tours are family-friendly; however participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or a responsible adult authorised by a guardian. Where a parent/guardian includes a minor’s name on the waiver, we treat that as consent for the minor’s participation and for the processing of the minor’s details for safety, booking and liability purposes. We don’t market directly to children.
Sensitive information
The waiver includes health/fitness declarations and your signature. In Australia this is considered sensitive information. We only collect it with your consent (when you complete and sign the waiver) and use it for safety, risk management and legal compliance related to your tour. You may choose not to give optional consents (e.g., media-release) and still join the tour, provided mandatory safety terms are met.
Where your information is stored & international transfers
-
Website & bookings: hosted and processed by Wix.com as our service provider (data processor). Wix may process data in multiple locations and provides a Data Processing Agreement; we remain the data controller.
-
Waiver & signatures: processed by Jotform/Jotform Sign. By default, Jotform stores submission data on servers located in the United States (customers can opt into EU storage). We may also enable Jotform’s encryption for added protection.
When your information is transferred or stored overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
Who we share information with
We never sell your personal information. We may share it with:
-
Service providers acting on our instructions: Wix (hosting, bookings, cookie tools), payment processors, email/SMS providers, cloud storage, analytics, and Jotform for e-signatures.
-
Tour staff/contractors who need the information to deliver your tour safely.
-
Insurers, legal advisers and regulators where reasonably necessary to manage risk, handle claims, or comply with law.
-
Emergency services if we reasonably believe disclosure will prevent or lessen a serious threat to life, health or safety.
Cookies & similar technologies
We use cookies that fall into these groups:
-
Essential (security, network management, consent log, checkout/booking session).
-
Functional & performance (remembering preferences, measuring site performance).
-
Analytics/marketing (only if enabled and consented via our banner). These may include tools such as Facebook Pixel or Instagram tracking technologies if we run ads or measure campaign performance.
You can:
-
manage non-essential cookies via our site banner, and
-
control cookies through your browser settings.
Blocking some cookies may impact site features.
How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including to deliver your tour, manage bookings and refunds, comply with tax and business record-keeping requirements, and manage legal risk:
-
Bookings, invoices and customer service records: typically kept for at least 5 years after the financial year they relate to (to meet Australian record-keeping expectations).
-
Waivers & incident/safety records: kept for the applicable limitation period for claims (and for minors, for a reasonable period after the minor turns 18), which helps us manage legal risk for tour activities in the ACT.
When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
Your choices & rights
Australia (APPs)
You can access and ask us to correct your personal information. If we refuse a request (for example, where a legal exception applies), we’ll tell you why and how to complain.

EU/UK visitors (GDPR-style rights)
Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, you may have additional rights to erasure, restriction, objection, portability and to withdraw consent (e.g., media release) at any time (withdrawal doesn’t affect prior lawful use).

How to exercise your rights or withdraw consent: email contact@canberraescootertours.com.au.
Media release withdrawal: we’ll stop using your image going forward and, where reasonable, remove it from our channels; we may not be able to recall materials already published/printed.
Keeping your information safe
